Sophia, The Divine Feminine

Happy is the one who finds wisdom,
The one who attains understanding.
Her value in trade is better than silver,
Her yield, greater than gold.
She is more precious than rubies;
All of your goods cannot equal her.
In her right hand is length of days,
In her left, riches and honor.
Her ways are pleasant ways,
And all her paths, peaceful.
She is a tree of life to those who grasp her,
And whoever holds onto her is happy.
Proverbs 3:13-18.

Wisdom is the Divine Feminine. In the Greek the word is Sophia, translated Wisdom. It is in these few short verses of scripture that we find the secret for success and happiness. Because we have spurned Wisdom or the Divine Feminine, we find ourselves in a world that has been left to the foolishness of our ways. Our ways are not peaceful nor do we find that the earth is populated with happiness and pleasant ways.

The scriptures go on to tell us that Source founded or created the earth by Wisdom. We are told to acquire Wisdom, to hug her and hold onto her, to honor her and embrace her, and that if we do we will be exalted and adorned with a graceful wreath over our heads and crowned with a glorious diadem.

Where, then do we find Wisdom? She says that she calls to us and that she stands at the crossroads and at the thresholds. The book of Proverbs gives us many hints and clues as to where we are to find and obtain Wisdom. Wisdom calls to us through the voice of the Spirit. She is found in the Shekinah presence and is known in the Hebrew as “She Who Dwells Within”.

If we will listen for the voice of Wisdom, we will learn to hear her call and respond to her pleas. If we will search for Wisdom we will find that we make time in our lives for the pursuit of Wisdom and for understanding. She is to be found in the still small voice and cannot be found in frantic doing but must be heard in the quietness of contemplation and stillness.

The creative renewing presence of the Divine is found in the words of Genesis where we find the Spirit hovering over the waters. When I create stillness in my life and in my mind, when I go into the quiet of meditation and invite the Spirit to speak to me, it is as if the presence of Source Itself hovers over me, instructing me in the ways of Wisdom.

“She is a tree of life to those who grasp her and whoever holds onto her is happy.” Go to the Tree of Life and eat the fruit that the Divine Feminine longs to give. By doing so you will find yourself on the path of Wisdom. Her ways are pleasant and you will find peace within your soul.
