INTRODUCTION - MISSION/VISION
Editor's Note: Revision of this page will happen periodically to better express Adventism in the postmodern culture and context we live in. Last update: April 12, 2009.
Welcome! This interfaith forum is a place to help build community and promote Adventism in a spirit of tolerance, openness and respect. Please check your denominational, theological and doctrinal biases at the door.
Whether you're a traditional, liberal, evangelical, historical, seeker, disenfranchised, questioning or former Adventist or blazing your own non-Adventist trails, we hope to draw you into an evolving conversation and, along the way, hopefully help paint a new generation of Adventists as genuine God seekers who are re-defining their faith.
MISSION
CONNECT Seventh-day Adventists of a generous orthodoxy into discussion and community with each other and other fellow Christians of any persuasion...
PROMOTE an open, inclusive, vibrant and relevant 21st Century Adventism and...
SEEK truth outside of doctrinal, institutional or cultural lines.
VISION
We envision the Adventist church living out these principles with purpose:
- Being doers of the word, not just hearers.
- Being ambassadors of the Gospel and “going into all the world.” We do this by choosing acceptance over judgement, inclusion over exclusion, and forgiveness (as we are forgiven).
- Being community, spirituality, and mission driven. Becoming gifted to serve, empowered to love, on a journey with God.
- Being a relevant church that engages the world passionately.
Pharisaical religiosity and exclusivity finds no place in this, our brand of Adventism. Here, the underlying agenda is to follow a merciful Christ who said "I tell you the truth, as you have done to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it to me."
